This week the Performing Arts department has created quite the buzz with pupils taking part in a rigorous audition process for the AKS 2022 Musical Production, Oliver!
Students from Years 7-13 truly immersed themselves in the process as they took part in both an acting and singing audition, performing before the creative team. On Tuesday the Drama studio was filled with pupils taking part in a character workshop, exploring the vocal and physical nature of several principal characters. On Wednesday pupils were once again challenged, however, this time showcasing their vocal skills. The department heard a variety of renditions of classic Oliver show tunes including 'Where is Love?' and 'As long as he needs me'.
After seeing so much talent on display, the Creative Team were then challenged to ensure they cast the musical correctly. Following Industry standards, several pupils were invited to a call back in which they were encouraged to embody an allocated character using their singing and acting skills. Throughout this entire process, we were beyond proud of the professionalism displayed by all pupils.
We are delighted to announce that every single pupil who auditioned has received a place in the cast and we look forward to seeing each and every one of them shine throughout the rehearsal process and on stage at Lowther in January.
