Year 5 enjoyed an amazing day of Science at UCLAN in Preston. We were first treated to an exhibition hall where there were different stalls to try out. In particular, the pupils loved the plane simulator and drone. There were forensics, dentists and train simulators too. Before lunch, we watched a show all about food. A jelly baby was heated to show the amount of energy it contained as well as learning about our taste buds and how taste works. After lunch, we really enjoyed a 'rap' performed by our presenter, Jon, after informing us about the dinosaurs and 'Jurassic World.'
Below are quotes from the Year 5 pupils about their trip:
Austin - "I liked the jelly baby experiment (as it showed us about food energy) and the guy who did the dinosaur raps. We learnt that all birds are dinosaurs."
William B - "I enjoyed the UCLAN trip because the plane driving simulator and the drone flying were fun. The dinosaur show was funny and exploring the stalls was interesting."
Tabitha - "UCLAN was extremely exciting and I loved the Science Show. I loved walking around the stalls especially the LED lights."
Amelie - "I really, really liked the Jurassic Show part where we learnt about dinosaurs and how birds and lizards are actually dinosaurs and we eat dinosaurs (chicken and duck)! I liked learning about the Quetzalcoatlus dinosaur."
Sofia - "I enjoyed the trip because it was new and exciting. There was a big room with big ideas. There were so many stalls to visit, and my favourite stall was the glow in the dark germs to see if you are clean or dirty (germs are everywhere)!"
