In the Senior School and, where relevant in the Preparatory School, entry is subject to a satisfactory reference from the applicant's previous school. For the Senior School (Years 7-11), external applicants are admitted on the basis of their academic ability, such as will enable them to cope with the curriculum. This is measured by means of assessments in English, Mathematics and nationally standardised Non Verbal Reasoning tests. The Senior School Entrance Assessment takes place in January or early February, for entry into Year 7 the following September. External applicants for Sixth Form are also invited for interview and their places confirmed following confirmation of GCSE results.
For current AKS pupils in our Preparatory School, entrance into the Senior School is automatic, provided that they have reached an appropriate level to demonstrate that they will be sufficiently able to cope with the Senior School curriculum and social environment.

When thinking of joining a new school it is not unusual to be a little uncertain, so why not spend a Taster Day with us to really get a "feel" for AKS?
Children trying a Taster Day in the Senior School usually come in at the start of the normal school day and are allocated a pupil to partner them for the day, whose timetable they follow. (This may be someone that the visitor knows from his or her previous school or another pupil that he or she has met before). A Taster Day gives prospective pupils the chance to ask lots of questions about the school and to get the answers straight from the pupils!
In the Preparatory School, children in Key Stage One usually attend for a morning and those in Key Stage Two for a whole day. During this time they will take part in lessons and join in with activities on the playground.
To arrange a Taster Day, please contact the Registrar, Liz Wyatt, on 01253 784104 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org. We look forward to welcoming you to AKS.
