Art, Craft and Design

Our award-winning Art Department provides the flexibility for students to follow an Art, Craft and Design course structured for their individual strengths. We offer a wide variety of media, techniques and processes, as well as one-to-one teaching in our dedicated Sixth Form art studio, supplemented by a variety of art trips.

The majority of time in Year 12 is spent developing a foundation of technical and practical skills in Art, Craft and Design, including drawing, photography, mark making, painting, printing, contextual research and independent study. Students have the opportunity to develop existing strengths, whilst challenging themselves to discover and learn new ones. Towards the end of the second term, students will decide on a theme for, and begin their ‘Personal Investigation’ which continues into Year 13.

Previous students have been accepted at St. Martins, London, Chelsea, Goldsmiths, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh, Loughborough, the London Institute and numerous other colleges.

“The individual support I’ve received has allowed me to push my level of creativity and to take risks. The skills and confidence I have developed over the last two years is part of the reason I have chosen to study a Visual Effects degree in London next year.” Abe, Year 13.
