Today, our Prep School came together for a special assembly to celebrate World Oceans Day, a global event held each year on 8th June to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet’s oceans.
The assembly was led by a group of enthusiastic Year 6 Round Square leaders along with Mrs Blinston, who shared an inspiring presentation with pupils and staff. They reminded everyone that we all have a role to play in looking after the oceans.
This year’s theme, “Sustaining What Sustains Us,” encouraged pupils to think about how essential the oceans are to life on Earth. Oceans provide oxygen, regulate the climate, and support a wide variety of marine life.
The presentation highlighted simple but meaningful ways we can help, such as reducing plastic use, reusing materials, and making more sustainable choices in our everyday lives. These small actions, when taken by many people, can make a significant difference in protecting the oceans and the creatures that live in them.
The assembly offered a valuable opportunity for pupils to reflect on their impact on the environment and to strengthen our Prep School’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and responsible global citizenship.
