U12 Hockey Squad enjoy tournament in Nottingham

It may be summer but the AKS U12 hockey team embarked on an exhilarating journey to Nottingham for a two-day tournament, showcasing their skills against 12 prestigious schools from across the country.

 

Competing against teams such as Queens Chester, Wellington College, Kings Macclesfield, Kimbolton, Mount St Marys, Kingston Grammar, Kings High, Cheadle Hulme, Dame Allan’s, Kirkham Grammar, Finborough, and St Teresa’s, the team faced formidable opponents but displayed remarkable resilience and determination.

 

Over the course of the tournament, the squad played an impressive number of matches, demonstrating their commitment and hard work. They secured notable victories, including a thrilling 2-1 win against Queens Chester, a commanding 3-0 triumph over Mount St Marys, and a narrow 1-0 victory against Kirkham Grammar. In addition to their wins, the team showcased their competitive spirit in draws against Kimbolton, Kingston Grammar, and Dame Allan’s, all ending in a 1-1 scorlines.

 

Throughout this demanding tournament over two very hot days, every player made significant strides in their gameplay, reflecting the hard work and dedication they put into their training. The squad, consisting of Harriet B, Arabella C, Blythe R, Grace W, Penny A, Ella B, Amelie Y, Emily B, Poppy W, Sofia B, and Freya W should take immense pride in their collective progress. Each match provided invaluable lessons, not only in teamwork and strategy but also in sportsmanship and perseverance.

 

The tournament served as a huge learning experience for the U12 team, allowing them to grow individually and as a cohesive unit. The skills they honed and the memories they created will undoubtedly serve them well in future competitions. As they returned home, the players carried with them not just the results of their matches but a deeper understanding of the game.
