What an unforgettable adventure our Year 4s had on their residential trip to Borwick Hall! For some children, it was their first time staying away from home—and they absolutely rose to the challenge.
We were lucky to have sunny weather throughout the trip, which made our outdoor adventures even more enjoyable. Over three exciting days, the children took part in a fantastic range of activities including canoeing, rock climbing, orienteering, and the thrilling Leap of Faith. Every child showed incredible bravery and determination, especially when trying something new for the first time. We also went on a walk around Farleton Knott and found out about the history of the local area and visited the Yordas cave in North Yorkshire, which was an amazing experience for everyone!
Our pupils impressed all the Borwick Hall staff with their teamwork, resilience, and positive attitudes. The children supported each other, faced challenges head-on, and made the most of every moment! It was a joy to see existing friendships grow stronger and new ones form during their time away. Another highlight was the amazing food! There was a great range of meals to enjoy—from pasta, jacket potatoes and healthy salads, to the delicious puddings. Mealtimes were a lovely chance to relax, recharge, and share stories from the day.
Evenings were just as special. After the evening activities on site, everyone gathered for hot chocolate and a brilliant campfire on the final night, where we reflected on our favourite moments. The AKS staff team couldn't be prouder of how the children represented our school. Their behaviour was excellent, and they approached every activity with enthusiasm, energy, and a smile. We are already looking forward to next year’s adventure!
Well done, Year 4—you were all brilliant and the Borwick Hall residential was an experience we’ll all remember for a long time to come.
