Our Year 6 pupils recently embarked on an unforgettable cultural journey to Liverpool, immersing themselves in the city’s rich heritage, vibrant creativity and dynamic spirit. From the moment they arrived, their enthusiasm and curiosity were palpable and they proved themselves to be outstanding ambassadors for our school.
The adventure began at the Museum of Liverpool, where the children were captivated by the Wondrous Place gallery, celebrating the city’s achievements in music, sport, and film, and the People’s Republic exhibit, which brought Liverpool’s social history to life through powerful storytelling.
The excitement continued as we stepped aboard the River Explorer Cruise, gliding across the Mersey while taking in the iconic skyline and learning about Liverpool’s maritime legacy.
A new highlight this year was our visit to the top of the Royal Liver Building. The panoramic views were simply breathtaking and the children were awestruck by the chance to stand beneath the famous Liver Birds—an experience that truly brought the city’s history to life.
Evening brought a burst of energy at Escape Hunt Liverpool, where the children tackled three immersive escape rooms. In Blackbeard’s Treasure, they raced to escape a sinking pirate ship, loving the thrill of solving nautical puzzles under pressure. Alice in Puzzleland transported them into a whimsical world of riddles and tea parties, where their imaginations ran wild. And in The Wild West, they embraced their inner cowboys, cracking codes to outwit outlaws in a dusty frontier town!
Back at the YHA, the girls enjoyed a relaxing evening with face masks and laughter, before everyone gathered for a cosy supper and catch-up—a perfect end to a busy day.
The following morning, after a hearty breakfast, the group headed to the World Museum, home to ten diverse exhibitions. From the wonders of Ancient Egypt to the Planetarium and Aquarium, the children explored everything from natural history to outer space. Their curiosity was boundless and their thoughtful questions reflected a genuine engagement with the world around them.
Finally, a picnic lunch at the Albert Dock was followed by a final stroll through the historic waterfront, complete with well-earned ice creams, before boarding the coach home—tired but beaming.
This year’s trip offered our Year 6 pupils a fresh and enriching cultural experience, distinct from previous years and one that beautifully aligned with the Round Square IDEALS. Through exploration, teamwork, and reflection, the children connected with Liverpool’s industrious past and vibrant present, deepening their understanding of democracy, service, and internationalism.
Most importantly, it was a chance for our pupils to enjoy quality time together, making lasting memories as they near the end of their Prep School journey. Their behaviour, enthusiasm, and camaraderie were exemplary throughout—they truly did us proud.
A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Blinston, Mrs Haworth, Mr Wilson and Mr Dreyer for their tireless support and dedication in making this trip such a success. With so much on our doorstep, there’s no doubt we’ll be returning again for more unforgettable adventures.
