Wyre & Fylde U15 Girls Cup. AKS 138 def by St Bedes 147.

A game of ups and down for the girls, which ended in a close result. The girls chose to bowl and struggled to adapt to the windy conditions. We bowled many no balls and wides, which were costly and added to the Bedes total. Our fielding was untidy at times and we were unable to capitalise on the opportunities presented. Some very good bowling by Sophie S, Megan F and Rosie L slowed the rate a little, but the total was high.

Chasing a large total, the girls set about scoring at a high run rate and some nice hitting from Charlotte L and Amelia H hitting some great balls. The departure of our 2 openers made life difficult and scoring was harder to come by. Hannah A (17) and Sophie S (12) steadied the ship, whilst targeting new scoring options. A positive approach saw some lovely shots and a fresh new momentum to the innings, which was carried on by Poppy M (11) when she arrived at the crease, hitting some big shots! The last part of our innings was a desperate one, with an extremely high rate of scoring required. Maisie M and Sophia M were brilliant under pressure and supported each other into an excellent partnership which was only broken with a couple of balls to go, with Maisie out for 21 and Sophia not out on 25.

Unfortunately the total was too much for us and we lost the match. However, there was a lot of positives to take from it, particularly from our amazing comeback with our batting. A great effort girls, very proud of you.

on winnings the  Wyre & Fylde Cup! Highlights of the day included:

U12B played a mixed pairs match, making new friends at Kings Chester. It was wonderful to watch the boys and girls enjoying their cricket together.

In the match, each pair played a full set and also bowled a full set, alongside fielding to stop runs.

Though their team did not win, our AKS players took the lead and showed the way in the steamy conditions.

Highlights of the match included a direct hit run out from Harry W and an amazing catch by Toby S.

Mr Daws

U15

U15 batted first 85 all out. King's Chester caught the total in 13th over. Strong batting by Banks with 15 off 12 deliveries, to get the AKS score board moving and Mahir backed it up with a 20 not out. Bowling Mihir and Xavier both took wickets, but was not enough to stop King's reaching the total.

Mr Holmes

U13B

AKS13b: 118 for 8 (20)

KCb:       170 for 1 (20)

Only 7 players but they all gave 100%. A little help from KC’coach in finding the other players to fill the pitch. Good captaincy by Charlie H. Tristan best bowler and Blake had more runs.

Mr Lanzani

U13 girls

The U13 girls played an excellent game of cricket against Kings Chester. AKS batted first, with impressive performances by Olivia W and Annie L, leading to a total score of 253. The strong fielding and excellent bowling by Connie F and Lily S restricted Kings Chester to 251. It was a great game, resulting in a victory for AKS.

Mrs Hall

U12A

AKS 73-7

King Chester 74-3

In a low scoring contest, AKS struggled to 73-7 in their 20 overs, with Rupert W carrying his bat for 27 not out and Oliver O contributing 10 at the end.

King Chester seemed to be cruising to victory, reaching 73-0 in just 11 overs, but Freddie J sparked some drama with two wickets in two balls, followed by a run out from Max M, resulting in three wickets in the over. Despite this brief setback, King Chester scored the one run they needed in the next over, handing AKS a defeat.
