During the Easter Holiday, Mrs Whitaker and Mrs Blinston attended a three-day Round Square conference at Oxford University. Seventy delegates from Round Square schools across the world attended; and it was great to make connections with such a varied and vibrant group of teachers.
The theme of the conference was the "Heroes of Discovery", and AKS will now be taking part in an exciting trial of these new materials. Each of the twelve Round Square discoveries has been given a superhero character to help introduce the ideas to younger children, there are stories and activities for each hero and AKS teachers will also be developing more materials in collaboration with the other schools.
As skills-based learning becomes more and more key, we are excited to be getting our youngest children engaged with the discoveries - Tenacity, Problem-Solving, Teamwork, Communication, Courage, Inquisitiveness, Inventiveness, an appreciation for Diversity, Self- awareness, Compassion, Responsibility, and a commitment to Sustainability.
