Just New Friends is a Tycoons social enterprise set up by a small group of AKS lower sixth students. Our aim is to bring together people suffering from loneliness and isolation by working with the local charity Just Good Friends. We wanted to make our events with Just Good Friends as enjoyable as possible so organised a Family and Friends games night to raise the money that will go towards future games afternoons with a splendid afternoon tea.
On Friday 26th of November we welcomed a host of teachers, parents, pupils and members of the community for a night of bingo, ‘Play your cards Right’, and a beetle drive. Throw in a few rounds of dominoes and a live performance of ‘Name that Tune’ made for a wonderful atmosphere. In preparation for the evening our social enterprise group had great fun practicing the games chosen. Additionally, some local businesses, such as Bosco, Lytham Gin, Stringers and Millie and Minnie, were kind enough to donate raffle prizes that went down a storm!
Overall, the evening was a great success, full of laughter and friendly competition. Thanks to a large turnout, the generosity of our community and great collaboration from the Just New Friends team, we were able to raise around £550 profit! This will make a huge difference to our work with Just Good Friends so we are very grateful for the contributions made throughout the evening.
