Our amazing PTA team transported ball-goers to warmer lands for an Arabian Nights themed ball on Saturday. Nearly 150 guests were welcomed by elephants and Turkish Delight (kindly donated by Anatolia Seaview), before walking through a brightly coloured Arabian arch and into the decorated OAKS Hall.
Thirteen tables with swags of colour and light greeted them, as they made their way to enjoy welcome drinks from SIPS mobile bar, before taking their seats. Once seated, they were treated to a ‘trailer’ by the talented AKS cast of Les Misérables, who were rewarded by applause from their audience. Our Catering Manager, Steve Shepherd, and his team produced 3 courses of deliciously themed food, with our sixth formers serving.
Once the meal was completed, it was time for the auction, compered by Mr Hayden, taking bids on two amazing auction packages:
Auction Package 1 - Course of Emsella Chair from Therapy House, Hydrafacial from Therapy House, Leisure Pass and Lunch Voucher from The Grand Hotel, Versaspa Spray Tan from Therapy House, Half Day of Home Organisation from Organised by Kerrie, and a Bottle of Twelve Bore Gin from Armitstead Barnett.
Auction Package 2 - Round of Golf for One from Fairhaven Golf Club, a Table of 8 in Hospitality for the Home Game on 14th February from Fylde Rugby, Christmas Dinner Yorkshire Pudding Wrap and Drink for 4 at Jimbrew from MC Catering, a Mystery Prize from Niche Audio Visual Ltd, 3 Beers Tasting Boards for 4 People at Jimbrew from Jimbrew Brewing, and a Bottle of Twelve Bore Gin from Armitstead Barnett.
All the prizes for both packages were placed inside Jimmy Choo bags, kindly donated (with many other gifts and ‘favours’ for the table) by Boots. As if that wasn’t enough to offer, it was then time for the raffle, drawn by Mrs Harrow. Available to win in the raffle:

The ball-goers continued to dance the night away to the live music from Touch the Pearl, with our very own Mr Hodder as part of the band. So far, there have been no reports of magic carpets leaving the building following this Arabian Night!
