Last week, 16 AKS cadets took part in a Field Day at the Weeton Barracks Training Area, joining cadets from Kirkham Grammar and Carr Hill High School for a full day of training and outdoor challenges. Despite the wet and cold November weather, all cadets embraced the experience with enthusiasm and resilience.
The programme followed a round-robin format, giving students the opportunity to rotate through a series of practical stands. Activities included harbour area techniques, teamwork and leadership tasks, shelter building, cooking in the field, paintball, and camouflage and concealment. Each stand provided valuable hands-on experience designed to strengthen confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving under pressure.
Staff were impressed with the energy and commitment shown throughout the day. Every cadet gave 110%, supporting one another through the challenging weather conditions and making the most of the unique learning environment. Alongside key skill development, there was plenty of enjoyment and camaraderie among the three schools.
AKS would like to extend a warm thank you to Kirkham Grammar CCF for the invitation and for hosting such a rewarding and well-organised training day.
