AKS Eco Warriors Launch New Tree-Planting Initiative

The AKS Eco Warriors have joined forces with the grounds team to kick off a series of new eco-initiatives around the school. Led by Mr Collings, the group includes Lower Sixth students Lilly, Esther and Sophia. They recently ordered 30 seedling trees from the Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity. The Trust focuses on creating, protecting and restoring natural spaces.

The delivery included a mix of Rowan, Silver Birch and Wild Cherry seedlings. They arrived on campus last week and have now been planted across the school grounds by grounds staff members Mr Connors and Mr Mawdsley. The team hopes these new additions will support local wildlife and enhance biodiversity on site.

To support more eco projects around the school, Mr Collings and the students will be collecting unwanted clothing to sell on their new Vinted account. Anyone who would like to donate items can drop them off at the senior school reception for the attention of the Eco Warriors.

All funds raised will go toward future initiatives, including recycling bins, tree saplings, wildflower seeds, and bird feeders and boxes.
