Harvest Festival assembly

PUBLISHED 15 October 2021

The Reverend Beverley led our Prep School Harvest Festival assembly in the Senior School hall this morning, by welcoming parents and encouraging the children to think about those who may not have enough to eat or a safe place to call home. This helped the children understand the focus of the Streetlife charity, to whom this year's Harvest Festival donations will be sent.

The children then treated their parents to a series of poems and songs which celebrated Harvest Festival. Finnley (Year 2), Kaitlyn (Year 3), Oscar (Year 4) and Alyssa (Year 5) spoke beautifully, prompting the Reverend Beverley to share how she credits the Prep School with building her own children's confidence and skill to read in public and on stage.

As always, Mr Thomas had devised an engaging programme, including some of the Prep School's favourite songs, We Are The Young, How Far I'll Go and I'm Still Singing. They were topped off with a version of George Ezra's Shotgun, which they have previously performed as part of the Prep School's Giant Orchestra. This time the song had been re-written to reflect the Harvest Festival theme:

"Time flies by when you're growing your greens, cabbages, Brussel sprouts and baked beans.." The Harvest Song (to the tune of Shotgun, George Ezra).
