U12A vs Merchant Taylors

Lost 3-2.

MoM Harry J- skillful and composed

Flat first half from AKS, going 2-0 down from a penalty and long range shot.  We shifted to 3-3-2 at half-time and played better, scoring twice through Harley and Dan.  Unfortunately Merchant's then nicked a late winner after reacting quickly to a parried shot.

U12B vs Merchant Taylors

Lost 6-0

MoM Jack H - great day in the goals.

With the long break and windy conditions the team struggled to find their rhythm.  Jack pulled off some amazing saves in goal and Angus had a good game in his central position.

U13 vs Merchant Taylors

Lost 5-3.

MoM - Leyton C - 3 games, 3 hat-tricks.

AKS conceded two early goals from a strong attack by the home side. However AKS got back into the game with two brilliant free kick goals from Leyton and just before half time the home team bagged another (2-3).  AKS started the 2nd half how they finished before half term with a strong team effort however the home side managed to sneak in 2 more goals.  AKS kept the pressure and high attack and won a penalty which Leyton slotted in the bottom right.
Overall a slow start from the boys but a good strong finish.  Well done.
MoM - Leyton - 3 games, 3 hat-tricks.

U14’s vs Merchant Taylor’s
Won 1-0
MOM: Aki K
Harvey and Rio playing for the year above gave the wider squad opportunities.  An excellent performance gave us a 1-0 win.  A vibrant start from both teams set the tone for a high quality game played at high intensity.  Noah sprayed around some excellent passes from just in front of the back four.  Tom and George G drove forward from midfield and both had chances.  Aki made his first start of the season and used his pace to make a series of fantastic interventions.  Jeremy came on a half time and used his pace to make a series of chances, he took one with a great lifted finish. Reece moved upfront for the last 20 minutes after an excellent performance at the back.  He worked well with Jeremy and used his physical presence to make a series of chances.  Cameron made two great saves in quick succession to preserve our lead.  We worked really hard as a team and finished the game on the front foot.  Noteworthy performances by Cameron, Jeremy, Ed and Reece.

U15’s vs Merchant Taylor’s
Lost 2-4
MOM: Joe H

AKS U15s were slow to start against Merchant Taylors and after the first 3 minutes found themselves 0-2 down after quick thinking from the visitors and the pace of their striker. AKS soon adapted to the Merchants game plan and settled in top the game.  With the wind to their backs AKS were able to pin Merchants back in to their half and with a strike from the wide left from Sacha, AKS pulled it back to 1-2.  A lapse in concentration just before half time allowed Merchant to extend their lead, giving AKS an uphill battle in the second half.

After some tactical input and words of encouragement from Harry and Zack (both sidelined through injury), AKS made the necessary changes and began to dominate the second half.  This allowed opportunities for Jacob, Rio and Joe to all get good strikes at goal, but the Merchant Taylors Goal keeper denied AKS through some fantastic saves.  Merchants were first to strike against the run of play to make the score 1-4.  AKS were not about to role over, as they launched attach after attack with Joe and Jacob getting in behind the defence.  This pressure eventually told as AKS won a free-kick from a pass back and Jacob stepped up to sink the ball in the top left corner.

AKS continued to dominate the exchanges, but were unable to convert the pressure in to points. Final score 2-4.

In Summary:

There were some notable performances from Josh and Jacob, but man of the match goes to Joe for his tireless work rate up and down the field, defending then making breaks to challenge the Merchant Taylors defence.
