Eurovision Extravaganza Hits the Right Note!

Friday 2nd May saw a fantastic Eurovision bang to kick off the long bank holiday weekend! In what has become an annual Prep School tradition, Years 3 to 6 battled it out to be crowned our Eurovision champions!

The day began with rehearsals in the Senior School’s OAKS Hall and flag-making fun in Prep. Mr Shepherd, our catering manager, treated everyone to a delicious Eurovision-themed lunch, and pupils enjoyed taking selfies with a themed photo frame and props.

By 7pm, it was showtime! Judged by Mrs Burnett (Senior School Head of MFL), Mr Brown (Head of Year 7), and Ms Malling (Performing Arts Intern), the competition featured an exciting range of performances:

  • Year 3 opened with the upbeat Magic in the Air, sung in both English and French

  • Year 4 delivered a beautiful rendition of Quand Je Vois Tes Yeux, in French

  • Year 5 brought high energy with La Bamba in Spanish

  • Year 6 wowed the judges and audience alike with 99 Luftballons in German – ultimately earning them the title of Eurovision Champions 2025!

And the fun didn’t stop there! Performances from the Prep School Choir and Chamber Choir were a delight, and the Prep Gigantic Brass Band and Brass Band had the audience toe-tapping along with their enthusiasm and energy. A special highlight came from the Blackburn and Darwen Brass Band, whose performance of Helter Skelter featured an impressively fast-paced xylophone solo that left the crowd amazed.

A huge thank you to the Blackburn and Darwen Brass Band for their continued support, and to all the staff, parents, and children who embraced the Eurovision spirit in all its joyful madness.

We might just have to do it all again next year!
