Debating Club in Prep School: 'Does Christmas start too early?'

This weeks hot topic saw us discuss, ‘Does Christmas start too early?’

The children had numerous opinions on the matter, looking at whether shops sucker you in early to get as much money as possible or if we should be as festive as early as we can!
We discussed the meaning of Christmas and the reasoning behind why we celebrate it.
The children took into account the view point of those who don’t celebrate Christmas and wondered how they might feel seeing all the festivities around them.
An interesting topic arose about those less fortunate and whether celebrating early would make them upset and jealous or if it would give them some much needed Christmas cheer.

It was a wonderful debate by all involved and the whole of debate club would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas!
