Celebrating Father’s Day with Trust, Laughter & Love What a morning! By Mr Avis.

The Prep Hall was buzzing with excitement as Year 6, supported by our Round Square Leadership and Service Leaders, hosted a heartwarming and hilarious Father’s Day Assembly.

With the hall packed full of proud parents, especially dads, it was a celebration to remember, just ahead of the big day this Sunday. The assembly began with a warm welcome and a reminder that Father’s Day isn’t just for dads. It’s for grandads, uncles, stepdads, older brothers, and all the amazing male role models who guide, support, and inspire us.

The children shared the origins of Father’s Day and why it’s so important to celebrate those who help us grow into kind, confident, and sometimes tidy people! This Year’s Theme was Trust & Reliability. The Year 6 children explored what makes father figures so special. Through quotes, stories, and a few cheeky jokes, the children explained how trust is built through actions, not just words and how reliability means always being there, even if it’s in socks and sandals on a rainy school run! These quotes sparked thoughtful reflections on how trust and reliability go both ways and how we, as children, can also be counted on.

“Trust is earned when actions meet words.”

“When my father didn’t have my hand, he had my back.”

Next, several Year 6 pupils shared personal stories about their dads that made us smile, from groovy dance moves and midnight snacks to DIY disasters and bedtime tales. Kaitlyn’s story had the audience on their toes, spotting clues and discussing dilemmas and morals. It was a brilliant way to get everyone thinking and laughing! The celebration didn’t stop with Year 6. Pupils from Years 3, 4, and 5 also took to the stage to share their work:

Year 3 focused on Commitment, showing how dads stick by us through thick and thin.

Year 4 explored Guidance and Advice, highlighting the wisdom and support father figures offer.

Year 5 honoured Sacrifice and Dedication, reminding us of the quiet ways dads show love every day.

Each group brought something unique, thoughtful, and creative to the stage, what a team effort!

Mrs. Haworth organised a fantastic bake sale for everyone to enjoy, raising over £200 for the new roof at Samlesbury Hall. Year 6 are looking forward to visiting the hall for an adventure afternoon next week. A huge thank you to everyone who baked, bought, and supported the event. To all the fathers and father figures who joined us, thank you for being there, your presence made the morning extra special. And to our incredible pupils, you made us laugh, think, and feel proud. You have learned that trust and reliability are built over time and that they go both ways. Thank you to Mrs. Haworth and all the teachers for your support this morning, and not to forget Mr. Thomas for his wonderful songs that the children love to sing. Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Prep!
