Compassion Project with Just Good Friends continues

PUBLISHED 05 June 2020

The 'Compassion in the Community' project, devised by our Bring Me Sunshine Committee, resulting in 30 Year 7 pen pal letters being exchanges with members of Just Good Friends, the local charity focused on reducing lonliness. This process is set to continue. Our aim is to 'bring sunshine' with these small acts of compassion.

The staff at AKS are also helping Just Good Friends with their Check-In and Chat Volunteering Scheme by phoning individuals in the local community. These calls happen on a regular basis to ensure those who need it, have someone to talk to.

Mrs Marland commented, "I am so thankful to all the pupils and staff that have got involved in helping the Just Good Friends members, long may these relationships continue! Perhaps, one day we can all come together over a cup of tea and a piece of cake. Now that is something to look forward too!"
