AKS Students Shine in National Maths Challenge PUBLISHED 14 July 2020 Junior UKMT Mathematics Challenge On Friday 26th June 86 Year 7 and 8 pupils took part in the online version of the Junior UKMT Mathematics Challenge. This national competition is usually completed in school in April, but was completed online this year during lockdown. The 60 minute challenge encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. We are delighted to announce that almost 40% of our students gained awards - which is even better than last year. Three students received Gold awards, recognising them as being in the top 7% nationwide. Year 8 student, Anya K., gained 'best in school', with Hugo only one mark behind. Alfie R. was 'best in Year 7' and also received a Gold award. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, there are no follow-on rounds this year. Congratulations to all award-winners!
