Year 13 students receive Inquiry Learning books

PUBLISHED 12 April 2024

Congratulations to all twenty-two Year 13 academic scholars who completed their Inquiry Learning essays last year and who received the hard copy of the book containing the full collection from 2023.

The topics for this second volume were as diverse as ever, including, 'How legitimate is string theory?', 'Are we feeding our horses correctly?', 'What makes a serial killer?' and 'How can nanotechnology revolutionise the way we treat and detect cancer?'. The opportunity to undertake the research has proven useful, such as in Pippa M's case, when she was able to refer to her work, 'The bilateral influences of the feminist movement and Gothic literature' in her successful application for Cambridge University. Likewise, many of the students chose topics which supported their applications for vocational courses, such as medical school, veterinary science.

The structure and requirements, including Harvard referencing, will prepare students for their next step in their education, whilst also leaving a legacy in our library to inspire and inform younger students.

We are looking forward to hearing from this year's Year 12 scholars who will present their work to family, friends and staff at our Sixth Form Evening of Inquiry on 15th May.

Many thanks to Mr Nick O'Loughlin, Head of Inquiry, for his support to the Sixth Form groups undertaking this work.
