AKS Lytham hits Sunday Times Parent Power 2024 list

PUBLISHED 19 December 2023

We are delighted to announce that AKS Lytham has been ranked 8th best independent school in Manchester and northwest of England in The Sunday Times’ Parent Power 2024 guide, having risen by 89 places in the national league tables.

Headmaster, David Harrow commented, “It’s fantastic to receive national recognition following our outstanding results this summer, including 78% of A level grades being awarded A*-B and 50% of GCSE grades at 7-9. However, we do not seek to be an intense hothouse, but offer a healthy, friendly and dynamic sense of challenge and support, which leads to the results our students achieve.

Success beyond the exam hall includes topping the leaderboard for the last eight years in the national Tycoon Enterprise competition, making the finals on four occasions and winning two first prizes; 50% of last year’s Year 12s undertaking their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award, and 36 students achieving county honours for hockey.

This year, we are the most represented school in the U18 Lancashire rugby squad and our school musical, The Little Shop of Horrors, will be performed at The Lowther Pavilion theatre in January.”

AKS Lytham public examination results (2023):

42% of A level grades at A*/A (national average 27%)

78% of A level grades at A*-B (national average 54%)
