We were delighted to sponsor Lytham Tennis Club's Junior Awards Evening for the second year running. The event took place on the 8th October at Lytham Tennis Club, when coach Greg Porter together with Head of Juniors, Julie Knowles, hosted a tennis 'fun day' club fundraiser in the afternoon, followed by food and the award ceremony. Senior Captain, Ed, presented the awards from 'Mini Red/Orange/Green' technique certificates to tournament winners from each season.
As our local club, it was fantastic to see so many Prep and Senior students feature. In particular, members of our boys' Senior teams contributed significantly to the success of the club, including Player of the Season (Harry J, Year 11), Samuel B (Year 9) who won the AKS Spirit of Tennis Award for his attitude, commitment and dedication to the game. AKS students, captain Will M-R, Year 8 and Isaac B, Year 7 formed half of the U14 Lytham A Boys' who narrowly missed 1st place in the local league, with the Lytham U14 team, captained by Ben S (Year 9) coming close behind in 3rd place. Will and Ben also proved a force to be reckoned with when they won Lytham Tennis Club's Boys' Doubles U14 Summer Tournament.
Team captains, Archie and Samuel (Boys' U16), Ben S (Boys' U14 - Lytham) and Will (Boys' U14 - Lytham A) all gave speeches about their team's progress and achievements. Samuel also shared his experience of playing against some of the top players in the county on his quest for victory in the 'Road to Wimbledon' national competition, following his win at club level.
It's exciting to see so much local talent, as well as celebrating the success of our students. Lytham Tennis Club has a thriving community of players and is a superb way to take up the sport, play competitively and make friends. Our players will be training there throughout the winter, ready to make waves on the school circuit in the summer term.
