AKS hosts inter-school chess competition v St George's

Our team of eight boys from Years 6 to 8 hosted their first inter-school chess tournament against an experienced side from St George's School, Blackpool on May 10th. The event was organised by Henry Y (Year 12), ably assisted by fellow adjudicators, Alex C and Euan N (also Year 12) and supported by Head of Careers, Miss Dillon.

Although our opponents emerged as the stronger team, the experience has lit the competitive fire within our boys, who thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are keen to build their skills in advance of a re-match in the next academic year.

After Miss Dillon and Henry C presented the St George’s team captain with the trophy, she concluded, “All students played outstanding games. Thank you for visiting us and the great games you played”.
