Outstanding Oxbridge offers for two Upper Sixth students

PUBLISHED 04 February 2022

Two of our Upper Sixth students have secured conditional offers from the University of Oxford for places in 2022 and 2023.

Alicia has received an offer to read Music at Lincoln College for this October. A gifted musician, Alicia has taken a lead role in vocal ensembles and as a saxophonist in the school band, as well as being an accomplished violinist and pianist. Mr Waterhouse, Director of Music is thrilled with her offer, “Alicia is, without doubt, one of the most exceptionally intelligent and talented music students I have taught in over a decade as a teacher, I am delighted for her.”

Meghna has received an offer to read Medicine at Christ Church College, University of Oxford for 2023. In addition to her focused commitment to her studies, Meghna has been an influential member of AKS Action, our student-led charity organisation, and has undertaken a key role in the workings of our Student Leadership Council, run entirely by students. Meghna is also an influential member of the school's peer-to-peer VENT mental health initiative. She is a rare breed of person who as well as being exceptionally intelligent is also genuinely empathetic. Meghna’s achievement is made all the more amazing as she is a year younger than most applicants.

“I couldn’t be more pleased for them,” stated Mr Maund, Head of AKS Sixth Form. “Both girls have worked exceptionally hard and have consistently seized upon the numerous opportunities and support available at Sixth Form. They are both a credit to AKS.”
