Sixth form partnership with prep supports reading, communication and empathy

Sixth Form Reading Buddies for Prep School children

We are pleased to announce that this year’s Buddy Readers from our Sixth Form have begun the valuable work of reading with children across the Prep School. After some discussion and training in how to help the younger children make progress with their reading, our sixth formers have been arriving daily, in their lunch break, to begin Buddy Reading (across years 1-6). They are polite, caring and patient and are a credit to their families and our school. As the pictures show, everyone gains from this partnership, our prep children have role models to look up to and to converse with, whilst our sixth formers hone their communication skills and empathy.

Already the younger children are looking forward to their next visit and lovely friendships are beginning to develop. Thanks must go to Mr Bridges and the Form Tutors for liaising with the prep school, to enable this to happen.
