Outdoor Learning in Prep - bird feeders

"We worked together"

Last week, Year 6 went on a nature walk to gather natural equipment, then designed their very own bird feeders. Mr Rice bought lard and bird seed to create fat balls and the children had a mixed response to the 'squelchy' lard!

"I really enjoyed putting the moss on, Niamh collected it from the Lake District and I think it would even make an amazing home for birds in the winter" Emilia

"It was amazing because we built our own with our hands, we worked together" Jayden

"The bird feeders were really fun, we worked as a team and I can't wait to see the birds use them!" Sophia B

We look forward to hearing whether they have managed to attract birds, although if they are in need of expert guidance, they have the RSPB Ribble Discovery Centre only a stone's throw away at Fairhaven Lake.
