On Thursday 6th March, AKS Prep celebrated World Book Day and the whole school was awash with vibrant costumes as the entire school community came dressed as their favourite book characters. From Harry Potter to Paddington Bear, almost every children’s fiction favourite was represented in what was a fantastic spectacle that highlighted the unique joy of reading for pleasure.
Throughout the day, we were extremely fortunate to welcome local author Nathan Parker, who began the celebrations with a whole school assembly. Nathan inspired pupils with a passionate talk about his love of reading and writing stories.
Junior children were then immersed in a series of stimulating writing workshops where Nathan shared his top writing tips and captivated the children with a range of activities focused on developing settings and exploring story structure.
Thank you to everybody who joined in the celebrations. It was certainly a day to remember.
