AKS students vote on topics to be debated at Westminster

PUBLISHED 07 October 2019

Our students participate in 'Make your Mark', the UK's largest youth consultation

‘Make your Mark’ is the UK’s largest youth consultation, and AKS is part of it! This year we will be joining voices with up to one million other pupils to vote on what we want the Youth Parliament to put on it’s national agenda – and present to Westminster.

The whole senior school, from Y7 –Y13 will take part in interactive workshops on the importance of having a political voice. All pupils will then get a chance to vote on a selection of issues to be put on the agenda for the coming Youth Parliament sessions. There is even the opportunity for pupils to get themselves involved at local as well as national level with the Youth Parliament on a regular basis.

AKS pupils already have a great reputation for ‘getting involved’ in all sorts of things –  now, for the fourth year of being involved in ‘Make Your Mark’, pupils are seeing just how their vote can influence things – what they vote for will be debated at Westminster.

This year, for the first time, they have also been able to nominate an issue local to Lytham St Annes - our local MP will have to respond... When all the votes are counted, we will find out what topic AKS has asked to be put forward. Watch this space!
