Year 9 students presented with Heart Start certificate PUBLISHED 13 March 2020 Mr Duthie, Senior Consultant from Blackpool Victoria Hospital NHS Trust presented certificates to year 9 on their completion of the Heart Start Programme Heart Start is an accredited course run by the British Heart Foundation and North West Ambulance Service. All pupils are taught CPR and what to do in an emergency situation. Since being part of the programme AKS have recognised the importance of teaching CPR and our aim is that no pupil will leave AKS without learning this life saving skill. To date over a 1,500 pupils and members of school community have been taught CPR. We have also recognised the importance of defibrillators and have four in different location on the school site. From September 2020 all schools will have to teach First Aid – AKS is proud to be ahead of the game in recognising the value of teaching this life skill. All students from Years 7 to 11 undertake a First Aid module in PSHE, this not only provides them with the knowledge, but also gives them confidence to put it into practice if ever in such a situation. Well done year 9! AUTHOR: AKS Lytham PUBLISHED: 13 March 2020 CATEGORIES: News
