Reception Class, Teaching Assistant

How long have you been at the school?

I have worked at Arnold and AKS for eleven years.  Prior to that I worked in another local primary school.

What attracted you to becoming a Teaching Assistant?

I embarked on this role to make a difference, to encourage children to meet their full potential and nurture their love for learning.

What is the best thing about working at AKS?

One of the best things about working at AKS is the strong sense of family within the school, nurturing not only academic achievement but confidence and self-esteem.

Tell us something we may not know about you

I have recently taken up sewing as a hobby and particularly enjoy patchwork and quilting.

What is your favourite book and why?

I love reading, I always have a book on the go.  If I had to choose just one book, it would be Persuasion.  My favourite author is Jane Austen.  I love her subtle and witty writing and the observations which make her characters come to life.

Who would you like to meet (past or present) and what would you like to ask them?

I would like to meet Emmeline Pankhurst.  I would firstly say thank you for all she did to secure the right to vote for women.  I would then like to hear her views on the role of women today, when we have seen two female prime ministers and leading women in so many roles.

Where in the world would you like to visit and why?

My dream has always been to go on a safari holiday.  My favourite wild animals are elephants and I would dearly love to see them in the wild.

What advice would you give to AKS pupils?

I would say to pupils at AKS, there are so many opportunities presented to you here, try everything and take advantage of each one to discover what you can gain from it.
