Year 2

What a difference a week makes, we are back at school in our new surroundings, following a new set of rules but having a great time. Year 2 have settled very quickly into their new routines and have really enjoyed seeing their friends again. We were very excited about playing on the big, senior school field and eating in the senior dining room, which is great practice for next year in year 3.

We have also really enjoyed still having our French, ICT and PE by Skype as this has kept us in contact with our friends working at home, which is very important to us all. This week we have written about our plans for the future as we think about moving on through school. We imagined our lives as grown ups and it was fascinating to hear the children’s hopes and plans. There are vets, doctors, lifeguards and market gardeners to name a few career paths and a lot of exciting travel plans to Paris, New York ,Africa and as far as Australia. Oscar shared his ideas from home and has plans of living in Buckingham Palace when he is a scientist, not sure how the queen will feel about that!

Year 2 have worked hard in maths, learning to use column subtraction effectively and have tackled many word problems to consolidate learning. We have looked at Andy Warhol as an artist, in particular his paintings of ice creams and lollies which are so bright and colourful, Year 2 did really well in class and at home, able to re create the shapes and designs from the original images. As we head towards the last week of the school year we are so glad to have this time together back at school and for life to feel a little more ‘normal’.
