The School flag will fly at half mast on Tuesday 6th October to mark the funeral of Shirley Wignall, a conscientious, skilled and long-serving science laboratory technician at Queen Mary School.

Shirley, a life-long resident of Lytham, passed away on 21st September, aged 82. Her funeral at St. Cuthbert’s Church in Lytham at 11.45 am will be followed by a private cremation.

Since her retirement in 2002 Shirley has been a regular and popular attender at coffee mornings and lunches arranged for former KEQMS staff and, together with her late husband Gordon, has given strong support to Phil’s Bakery in Lytham, owned by her son.

Donations in memory of Shirley may be sent to the Red Cross c/o the funeral director, David Pope, of Clifton Street, Lytham.
