Warm tributes have been paid to Edna Martin, formerly the much -respected School Secretary at Queen Mary School, who has died aged 99.

Mrs. Martin was the Secretary at Queen Mary School from 1961 until her retirement in 1981 and worked with three Headmistresses - Joan Harley, Joan Charlton and Margaret Ritchie.

She is remembered by many former staff, pupils and parents for her widely-admired efficiency, her first-class organisational skills and her commitment to Queen Mary School.

Mrs. Martin died in Blackpool Victoria Hospital on October 12 after spending her final six months being excellently looked after by the staff at Freckleton Lodge Care Home.

She leaves her son Peter and daughter Jackie, grandchildren Ian and Christine and Lynne and Simon, together with great grandchildren Matthew, Daniel, Sophie and Katie.

Edna Martin’s funeral took place at Holy Trinity Parish Church in Freckleton on Thursday 22 October.

Donations in her memory for Freckleton Lodge may be sent to the funeral director Steven Baxendale of Kirkham Road, Freckleton.
