The Year 9 residential trip was amazing.

The accommodation was comfy and clean, and the food was delicious. All the chefs serving the food were welcoming and happy.

Our instructor was called Luke, he was very kind, helpful, and experienced. He always made sure we were safe and having a great time. I was in a group with a few people I knew well and some that I didn’t know very well. This was a great chance to get to know some people in my year group a bit better, especially on the mountain day walk as we had time to talk to each other.

The half day challenge was great as it made us focus on teamwork. In the half day challenge one of the tasks involved our team getting from one side of the course to the other with obstacles in the way. This was a good opportunity to use our communication and leadership skills.

The highlight of the trip for me was the raft building activity as it was very fun and something that I’d never done before. I also enjoyed jumping off the jetty at the end as everyone was laughing and enjoying themselves.

I learnt lots of new skills including how to tie myself into a harness for climbing and abseiling, how to tie different types of knots when we were raft building to keep the raft afloat and I got better at listening to others and working as a team.
