Sixth Form and staff tennis tournament 2024 PUBLISHED 29 April 2024 Our annual Sixth Form and staff tennis tournament took place on Friday after school. Nineteen students and eleven staff took part in a round-robin-style tournament over five rounds, with pairings and opponents changed for every game. The seven-minute games of short-tennis required two serves from each player, and fast reaction times as points for each pair were recorded, ultimately leading to an individual student and staff member being awarded with this year's medal for the highest accumulated points. Congratulations to Year 13 students, Tom H who took first place and runners-up, Tom O and Beth R. On the staff-side, Head of Maths, Lee Sobey for a second time, with runners-up places going to Head of Business Education, Graeme McIntyre and ICT Technician, Andrew Parker. Many thanks to Mrs Whorlton-Jones for her superb organisation and players' headbands, as well as to our catering team for the delicious post-tournament wimbledon-themed treats! The event proved so popular that the Year 12s have requested a second tournament to follow their summer exams.... so watch this space for 'part two'!
