AKS Prep school celebrated  World Earth Day in many different ways.

The day started for some children with a bike ride, car share or walk to school, some even brought scooters. Our Year 6 Round Square leaders and Eco committee members presented an assembly all about plastic waste and what we can do to help the situation. All the children brought a plastic item into school and these were used to make a giant plastic waste fish to highlight the effect of plastic pollution on the ocean.

Many children made an effort to bring a snack in a reusable plastic box. Later, in class, some children made bar charts of their favourite sea creatures and listened to environment themed stories. Many classes chose to plant seeds for the community garden, while others wrote poetry and took part in activities outside. The overall message was "Let's make every day earth day!"

The theme for Earth Day this year is people versus plastic.
