After a successful first half term on the hockey pitch the AKS U15 hockey players enjoyed an action packed morning of a different type during the half term break as they faced the challenges of a team building morning at Blackpool Council’s Outdoor Revolution at Stanley Park.
The sporty girls faced two challenges, that of the High Ropes Course and Canoeing on the Lake both led by the qualified instructors at Outdoor Revolution.
The High Ropes course, as the name suggests, saw the girls high above the ground and negotiating a wide range of very ‘wobbly’ obstacles which tested their nerve, balance and skills. The course included walking across the X bridge, balancing and traversing a wire with only a rope to hang on to , walking the upright poles and getting across the tyre obstacle but everyone’s favorite was of course the zip wire half way round the course. All the girls successfully negotiated the course not once, but twice!!
After the high ropes it was on to the Lake for a session of canoeing in open boats. On the water the girls skillfully took to paddling the open canoes showing both teamwork and their paddling ability. They enjoyed fun games which involved them standing up , changing positions and boats in the far from stable canoes ( and they all managed to stay dry!) as well as mastering some of the paddling skills to move their boats forwards, backwards and sideways.
Overall all the girls had a great time and enjoyed supporting and encouraging each other on the high ropes and working together in the canoes and now they will hope to take the same team spirit in to the second half of the term on the hockey pitch.
