Another successful morning of hockey as AKS took on Stonyhurst, St.Marys Hall.

AKS U13 A team continued their fine start to the season with another win this week against Stonyhurst.  A hat-trick of goals from Olivia W and a brace from Camilla W secured the win 5 – 0 but again great defending saw us keep another clean sheet. Olivia W was voted player of the match.

AKS U13B had their best performance of the season so far against St Mary's Hall. It was pleasing to see aspects of the game that the girls have been working on come to fruition. Stronger, accurate passing and creating space by distributing the ball wide, resulted in numerous attacking drives forward which created many goal scoring opportunities. AKS went into a 3-0 lead at half time.

In the second half, this lead gave the AKS girls the opportunity to experience playing in different position under pressure, which can only benefit their adaptability within the game. The team played with improved teamwork, linking passes together and working hard for each other. Ava D was voted St Mary's player of the match and AKS player of the match was Annie L for her control in the centre and her intelligent distribution of the ball, as well as scoring a goal. Connie F impressed with her drives down the right, beating the opposition and her efforts were rewarded with a hat trick and a further goal from Annie Lloyd sealed a well deserved in a 4-2 win.

The U12A team came up against strong opposition in St Mary's Hall, Stonyhurst and in horrendous weather conditions at times, St Mary's started off the stronger of the two teams but outstanding defending from Katie W and Evie B and tremendous saves from Louisa B kept AKS in the game. Against the run of play, Alyssa W made an outstanding run down the right hand side and played the ball across to the penalty spot to find Charlotte R who calmly slotted the ball home. This goal clearly shocked St Mary's and they were quick to equalise and they then added to their tally. The AKS team refused to give up though and despite an excellent performance from the hosts, the AKS team were able to create their own chances and further goals were scored by Charlotte and Sophia T. The St Mary's team were the deserving winners but the AKS team should be proud of their performance and for their resilience in keeping going in the hail and they will have learnt a lot from a well drilled and experienced side. Players of the match were Sophia T & Evie B.

The U12 B team played superbly to record a resounding win but it wasn’t a one sided game with Stonyhurst having some bursting runs but goalkeeper Evie C made some great saves. AKS attacked with purpose and clinical finishes put us in the lead. Some superb passes up the line from Olivia C to Hattie W saw us dominate in attack and many of the crosses were converted in to goals. Isabella G and Evie R made their AKS debuts and they played well applying the skills that they have learnt so far this term . Rowan H, Scarlett B, Hattie W and Elle J displayed their expertise and were able to keep the structure of play. Eloise R showed resilience and drive when in attack and defence. Altogether it was a fantastic team performance, where the girls all worked together and supported each other during the game. Hat-tricks from Hattie W and Elle J together with one from Scarlet B sealed the win and Hattie W was the player of the match.
