AKS Senior hockey side continued their good start to the season with a good win against Kirkham Grammar 2nd XI in the first round of the National Schools U18 Cup.

AKS started well getting on the front foot from the first whistle with a great run and shot by Beth R which immediately set the tone for the match. More pressure from AKS led to several corners but we had to wait until 13th minute before we found the net when Beth R scored to take AKS into a deserved lead. Great passing hockey round the back from Jess A, Lisa P, Olivia M and Lucy W constantly changed the point of the AKS attack and we went two up in 20th minute when Carly W found the net. Now playing confident possession hockey the midfield of Lucy B, Laura K and Kirtika S linked well to dominate and we went further ahead before the break with a superb strike at a corner by Laura K to make the halftime score 3-0.

The second half went the way of the first with everyone on the team contributing to some great passing hockey and two more goals from Beth R sealed the win early in the second half. Kirkham kept to their task but struggled to keep possession and cope with our fast passing hockey and goals from Katie T, Olivia M and a 4th from Beth R sealed a convincing victory and passage into the next round where the team will face Cheadle Hulme School.
