U13s

AKS U13.   114/5

Hutton U13.  95 All out

Better performance from the squad on Monday in an evenly-balanced game at AKS  Rotation of squad and bowling and batting order enabling others to get opportunities earlier on in the innings .AKS into bat and strong performance from Archie J (30 retired) Freddie B (21) & Maanav (14) set AKS on their way to a good total.  More consistent bowling and better fielding enabled AKS to halt the visitors run chase.

Archie J 4wkts for 13 runs from 3 over, Finn 3wkts for 9 runs from 2 overs.

Seniors

Seniors: AKS 7/116 def by Sedbergh 2nd XI 6/117

(Felix T 32 off 25, Alex U 37 off 33, Sam L 3 wickets)

AKS set a solid platform to build upon, with Alfie K playing with confidence. Felix and Alex also played some quality shots and made good contributions. Unfortunately, they both got out at a critical time and the innings didn’t pack the power that we might have expected, aside from a massive 6 by Edward S.

AKS set out to defend an average total and our team were up to the challenge, with L steaming in ably supported by Sammy C and Evie F. Some sharp fielding led to many runs being saved and a build-up in pressure. With Sedbergh 1/53, the game could have gone either way and some quality batting saw the run rate decline slowly over the proceeding overs. Sharp catches by Sam L and Max G in the deep gave us a chance, but the game was taken away from us in the final over. Our team stuck it out til the end and battled hard.

U12B

U12B v Hutton GS

AKS got 67 off their 20 overs with everyone getting a bat and Teddy, Will H, Hassan all doing well.  Hutton replied in confident fashion reaching their target in only 12 overs.  However, the decision was made to continue and finish the 20 overs giving others the chance to bowl and bat. Played in an excellent spirit and humour.

Start slow and pick up speed was the theme of the day. AKS were 7 for 2 after three overs and then Xavier and Freddie settled in for a partnership 93, with Hamza coming in and pushing us on to 121 of 20 overs. In the field Clitheroe started fast and soon looked like they were going to recharge the total in about 12 overs. However, AKS tightened up the field and took vital wickets through Hamza and Jacob. We then really tightened up the field and managed to push them to the 18th over before they caught us. A really good effort considering they only needed 30 runs after 14 overs.

U12A

26/05/23 AKS U12a beat Hutton U12a in a last-ball thriller!

Hutton batted first and posted 117 / 4 off 20 with tidy blow long from Milling, McKeown & Milligan - a live wire fielding performance on a small wicket was the main reason for the low score off some decent batsman.   In return, AKS squeezed over the line with one to win off the last ball in an epic finish. With 6 am over the target McKeown, Alfred, Carter & Van Rijn gave it some pow as AKS gradually made their way to the last over. We’d missed plenty of running opportunities leading up to the final over, but Van Rijn was able to see us over the line with a single off rhe last ball. Cue mass chaos. Great result for the boys.

U15

25/05/23 AkS U15 lost to Hutton U15 in a decent match under great conditions on Thursday. Hutton posted 146 - 6 in their 20 which would have been more had it not been for another excellent team effort in the field. Curran, Jackson & Flintoff the pick of the bowlers. In reply, AKS never really got going - cheap wickets were as a result of casual slogs and there were a lot of runs left behind in terms of singles. We managed 91 / 10

Seniors

Seniors: Queen Ethelbergas 7/143 def AKS 5/110. A fantastic match under lights at QE, a big highlight in the calendar. A pleasure to play on their wonderful fields. AKS restricted QE to an average total on an excellent batting wicket, with all contributing to an inspired fielding performance and some excellent bowling - particularly from Felix T, Alex U & Edward S. In reply, AKS aimed to keep the scoreboard ticking whilst maintaining wickets in hand and have the batters make the runs. We made a steady start, with Felix T & Toby C looking good and scoring regularly. Unfortunately, our batters weren’t able to fully capitalise on our opportunities with both striking and running between the wickets and did not consistently access scoring opportunities. This led to inconsistent scoring and too much to do in the final 10 overs.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable day/night that will live in memory for a time to come. We hope to come back in the following years and turn this result around.
