AKS Prep Sports round-up

What a start to our Summer season it’s been, with cricket, rounders and athletics fixtures for our pupils across KS2.

Our U11 Boys, took on Newcastle Under-Lyme in the first round of the AJIS Hardball Cup, and whilst defeated, the development of all our boys was great to see against very tough opponents.

It was a different story for the team in the AJIS Softball Cup however, with a victory over Westholme. Rupert led the attack well with his bowling. We now await our 2nd round opponents.

There have also been further friendly cricket fixtures vs Ashbridge & Kirkham Grammar Schools, giving pupils getting the opportunity to play.

On Saturday, 14th May, AKS took on Kirkham in 2 softball cricket matches, in glorious sunshine. For ourselves it was great to see both boys and girls taking part, with the biggest hitter of the day Alyssa, boasting batting figures that included 2 sixes as she made 19 runs off 3 overs.

The girls have also been in rounders action this term vs Ashbridge and are looking forward to further upcoming fixtures and the AJIS festival hosted by ourselves at AKS.

This week has seen our athletes from Years 4 to 6 take to the track with fixtures vs Ashbridge and Kirkham.

Last night's showcase with Kirkham in our Annual fixture, was an explosive spectacle of talent, grit and determination from all who took part.

Whilst all children shone, it was our Year 6 girls Olivia and Camilla and our Year 4 boys Austin and Jack who stole the show with some fantastic performances. Austin having completed 2.5 laps of the track in only 1 trainer after a slight shoe lace malfunction as he sped away at the start of his race.

I would like to thank all AKS PE staff for their time and efforts in getting the children ready for all fixtures so far - a great team with so much passion for all our children to be successful in all that they do (Mr Worthington, Mrs Cole & Ms Dixon).
