House Photography Competition: Senior School winner announced!

PUBLISHED 16 December 2021

This is the first year that the annual autumn photography competition has taken place to support the AKS House system.

Students entered the competition to gain points for their houses. The quality and standard of the photography submitted has been outstanding. The theme this year was 'Who We Are' - asking students to look at themselves, their environment and whatever they felt made them who they are. In the senior school, it was a heart-warming photograph from Finlay (7A) which wowed the judges.

He described what inspired him, “This photo shows who I am; this is my Mum and Dad, in my beautiful hometown, where we like to walk on Sundays. I feel incredibly lucky to grow up by the sea, surrounded by my amazing family. I think this photo sums up who I am and the possibilities that lie ahead of me.”

In addition to this there were winners chosen for each of the houses, plus a selection of students were highly commended for their photographs. The winning photography will be displayed in school in the new year.

Oliver S. (8K), beautifully observed black and white portrait - Samlesbury

Amelia B. (10K), canal boat - Rufford

Hannah A. (8A), amusing fusion of Lego figures with a perspective of our school - Leighton

Myles T. (8S), stunning skyline - Gawthorpe

Well done to our winners and to all those who entered! You can see all the photography which was highly commended here.
