This year's annual Girls' v Boys' hockey match took place on 20th March, where the Sixth Form donned the traditional sportswear of the opposing team, completing the look with neon war paint. The girls coordinated their hairstyles in matching plaits and ribbons and came to the Astro first with their theme tune, Beyonce's Run the World (Girls), blasting from their speaker. The boys were welcomed onto the Astro with a guard of honour, formed by their Lower School supporters.
Ultimately, it was "a triumph of talent over brute force" (Deputy Head, Pastoral, Phil Hayden), with the girls coming out on top with a clear 4-0 victory, despite early energetic efforts by Jeremy, the enthusiasm of Max and Cameron, and stellar effort from Toby. Felix also managed some great saves, defending well against the girls' powerful strikes. Dani and Scarlett also excelled in goal, with Beth, Liv and Laura controlling the ball.
The school community came out in force to get behind the teams and we were blessed with good weather. All-in-all a fantastic lunchtime of good cheer, well done to everyone who took part!
