Year 3 trip: Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes PUBLISHED 15 March 2024 On Wednesday, Year 3 took a trip to the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre in Widnes. It was an amazing experience that allowed the children to see all the different uses of Science in our lives. The Interactive Gallery contained many hands-on exhibits allowing us to be on TV as a weather reporter, test a scarf shooter, see the temperature of our bodies, and much more. The Birth of an Industry exhibit allowed us to see the development of the Chemical Industry from ancient times up to the 1940s. At the top of the building was the Observation Gallery, allowing for panoramic views of the area and some more interactivity with the creation of two different bridges, mapping the local area, and informative quizzes. The day ended with a spectacular show on solids, liquids, and gases, allowing us to learn about different materials and their properties, and even using liquid nitrogen and solid carbon dioxide.
