Year 7 finish term with great afternoon of hockey against Ripley

PUBLISHED 14 December 2021

AKS Year 7’s ended their first term of hockey at the senior school with every girl in the year group being involved in four matches against Ripley St Thomas School from Lancaster during their games lesson. A pleasant afternoon of hockey ended with three wins, and a draw for AKS.

The A team were always on top and played some great passing hockey to create a number of goal scoring opportunities. Goals from four different scorers in Maisie W, Lila N, Anna V and Gracie G saw them win their game 4-1 to end a great term with another well deserved win.

The B team game also saw AKS play attractive hockey and enjoy a lot of possession. Maddie K scored the first and the last goal in the B teams 4-0 win with the other two goals for the ever improving B team being scored by Sophia McG .

The C team game proved to be a much closer affair with both teams having chances to score in the first half. In a even game it was Freya H who found the net, scoring her first ever goal in hockey, to secure a 1 – 0. Freya was also awarded player of the match for her superb effort throughout the game.

The D team game was even closer! Again in an even game both teams enjoyed periods of possession and had chances to score.  Ruby B scored for AKS but Ripley got on the score sheet themselves and the final result was a fair 1 - 1 draw. Charlotte J was awarded player of the match.

Overall a superb way to end a great team of effort and progress for all the players, some of whom had never played hockey before joining AKS. We now look forward to seeing the girls continue to develop both their individual and team skills in the second half of the season.
