It was a pleasure to welcome back former Head Student, Pippa McGregor, to AKS this week as she returned to share her experiences and advice with students considering an Oxbridge route.
Pippa, who left AKS in 2024, is about to begin her final year studying English at Selwyn College, Cambridge. Having made the journey from AKS to Cambridge herself, she was perfectly placed to offer practical advice and an honest insight into university life.
Pippa joined a group of students for lunch, where she talked openly about her experiences and answered questions about everything from choosing the right subjects and developing academic interests to preparing for university and making the most of the opportunities available at school.
For our older students, the conversation offered valuable guidance as they now take the next steps towards Oxford or Cambridge. For younger students, it was a chance to start thinking ahead about the choices they make now and how they can develop their interests and academic strengths over the coming years.
Perhaps most importantly, students were able to hear directly from someone who had been in their position only a few years ago. Pippa's perspective provided a valuable reminder that the journey to university is about much more than grades; it is also about curiosity, academic engagement and making the most of the opportunities available.
We are incredibly grateful to Pippa for giving up her time to return to AKS and share her experience. It was wonderful to welcome her back and to see one of our former students supporting and inspiring the next generation as they consider where their own journeys might take them.
