On Thursday afternoon, Year 3 enjoyed an exciting and informative visit from physiotherapists Laura and Josh from Motion Injury Clinic, who delivered a fascinating session all about the human skeleton.
During the workshop, the children discovered the names and locations of some of the body's major bones and learned about the important role the skeleton plays in supporting and protecting us. Laura and Josh also explained how muscles and joints work together with our bones to help us move, jump, run and play.
The session explored how bones store essential minerals, such as calcium, and how the body uses these nutrients to stay healthy. The children also learned about ways to build and maintain strong bones through a healthy lifestyle, including the importance of exercise and good nutrition.
One of the most engaging parts of the afternoon was learning about bone remodelling, the remarkable process by which our bones continuously adapt and strengthen in response to the demands placed upon them.
The children were full of curiosity throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions and enthusiastically sharing their ideas. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life, helping them develop a deeper understanding of how their bodies work and the science behind staying healthy.
A huge thank you to Laura and Josh for giving up their time to share their expertise and inspire our young learners.
