The ‘Beehive’ is an aspirational additional teaching and learning destination which supports our commitment to achieving Academic Ambition for every child in AKS Preparatory School and is led by Mr Avis, our Raising Attainment Teacher.
It offers a comprehensive range of tailored interventions to support the individual needs of our pupils. These interventions are targeted to support both specific individuals and groups of all ages and abilities, including, ‘challenge interventions’ aimed at stretching the most able pupils and ‘boosters’ to rectify misunderstandings and fill gaps.
Investigations, games and discussion will be integral elements of every session with a real hands-on ‘doing’ approach using a range of playful manipulatives and resources, with emphasis on having fun. Progress and attainment are the principle focus in the Beehive, ensuring individual work schemes and provisions are structured to suit the next steps in pupils learning. These personalised learning pathways will promote the best possible outcomes for our learners and enable them to make rapid progress, through a specific step-by-step targeted approach.
